Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen by Serena Valentino

 photo free-floral-banners-by-FPTFY-3.jpg
The tale of the young princess and her evil stepmother, the Wicked Queen, is widely known. Despite a few variations from telling to telling, the story remains the same--the Queen was jealous of the girl's beauty, and this jealousy culminated in the Queen's attempt on the sweet, naive girl's life.

Another tale far less often spoken of is the one that explains what caused the Queen to become so contemptuously vile. Still, some have attempted to guess at the reason. Perhaps the Queen's true nature was that of a wicked hag and her beautiful, regal appearance a disguise used to fool the King. Others claim that the Queen might have hated the girl for her resemblance to the King's first wife. Mostly, the Queen is painted as a morally abhorrent woman who never loved another being during the course of her miserable life.

In fact, the theories about exactly what cause the Queen's obsessive vanity and jealous rage are too numerous to catalog. This book recounts a version of the story that has remained untold until now. It is a tragic tale of love and loss, and it contains a bit of magic. It is a tale of the Wicked Queen.

Why Read: I first saw this from Pbookbuddy who is one of the amazing book tuber that I follow on YouTube. He was raving how great this book is and I was totally sucked in and gave in with what he said about this that somehow made me really want it bad.
What I Liked: Where to start?! haha Its a retelling! For the N'th time, I LOVE RE-TELLINGS! Any twisted fairy tale re-telling's is a pleasure for me to read. NO JUDGEMENTS! haha I find it refreshing and mostly interesting to know the other side of the stories. For this novel if you still haven't noticed yet, This is from Snow White and The Seven Dwarf's story specifically the wicked queen's side and it's evil origin. I was so encapsulated by the story. The writing was so good that it made me feel the feels for her, if you know what I mean. haha! The plot works well from the Disney story that it really made me believe that it was really from Disney. After reading this I immediately watched the cartoon and it made me see it in a different way which really felt good. I was satisfied with the whole story line and the plot twist was AARGGHHH! It made me feel! haha I don't want to spoil anything but the feels ahaha
What Disappointed Me: NONE!
GO READ IT!
PLEASE! :)

To tell you frankly even if I didn't had the chance to see this being raved from Pbookbuddy and just saw this from the book store, The book cover alone had me already. No need to know the book synopsis. It just got sold from the cover itself. I'd die for this cover. Its amazing!

Fairest By Marissa Meyer

In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.

Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death. This extraordinary book includes full-color art and an excerpt from Winter, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series.

Why Read: I'am a fan of this series so its a must to get this on my reading list.
What I liked: First of all I wasn't aware that this was a back story of Levana or should I say "The Evil Queen". I didn't even read the synopsis of this book cause I just don't need to. aha! Anyway I enjoyed this book in a way that now things are pretty much clearer  to the whole rivalry thing between cinder and levana plus the story of winter which will be coming soon! Its good to know the side of levana, to learn where she is coming from but even though its still hard for me to sympathize for this character because of how sick she really is in the head. haha! This has me gripped to my kindle non stop. The dark, twisted mind of the character will really keep you hooked. Though I would suggest that you read the books in order to avoid spoilers to the main story.
What Disappointed Me: Well its really not a bad disappointment. I wasn't aware that this was a short story. I wanted more though cause I enjoyed it.

I'am happy of the book cover and glad that they didn't released other versions of this. Plus they still stayed within the theme of the whole series. THUMBS UP!
This book cover is very dark and mysterious feel into it. I like it a lot it somehow what I felt about the book.

Insanity by Cameron Jace

 photo 18910286.jpg
 photo free-floral-banners-by-FPTFY-3.jpg
After accidentally killing everyone in her class, Alice Wonder is now a patient in the Radcliffe Lunatic Asylum. No one doubts her insanity. Only a hookah-smoking professor believes otherwise; that he can prove her sanity by decoding Lewis Carroll’s paintings, photographs, and find Wonderland’s real whereabouts. Professor Caterpillar persuades the asylum that Alice can save lives and catch the wonderland monsters now reincarnated in modern day criminals. In order to do so, Alice leads a double life: an Oxford university student by day, a mad girl in an asylum by night. The line between sanity and insanity thins when she meets Jack Diamond, an arrogant college student who believes that nonsense is an actual science.

Why Read: Mainly because of the book cover. I have not heard nor read from this author before and I got this out of the whim.  Not knowing what to expect except that it was a retelling Alice In Wonderland.
What I Liked: One of the reasons I got to read this is because its a retelling. I'm currently into retellings and I was in the mood for this one. I like how the author started the novel it somehow creeped me out a bit. Its a totally weird world building and its a well written, fast pace and a bit of action thrown into it. Likable unique and fun characters as well. Its author really knows what his writing especially the facts about the real story Alice In Wonderland and about Lewis Caroll. I must say I learned a lot about this book. I literally read this in just 2 days which is a good sign that I enjoyed this. Every page is a turner for me especially the ending is so wickedly good.
What Disappointed Me: NONE!

The Little Android is a retelling of The Little Mermaid, set in the world of The Lunar Chronicles by New York Times-bestselling author Marissa Meyer.

When android Mech6.0, saves the life of a handsome hardware engineer, her body is destroyed and her mechanics discover a glitch in her programing. Androids aren’t not meant to develop unpractical reasoning or near-emotional responses…let alone fall in love
 photo ShabbyBlogsRetroTag5.jpg photo ShabbyBlogsRetroTag2-1.jpg
Why Read: I was thirsty for a Marissa Meyer novel cause at that time I had this on my Watpad and I still don't own a copy of Cress before. So I was in the mood of reading this even though I swore to myself to read it after Cress. Typical me.
What I liked: Before going straight to my point. This novel is a VERY short story and just a tip to my fellow Goodreaders out there that if you are like, waaayy behind you reading challenge for the year. This is a good fast and light book to help you boost your "read books" for 2014. :)

Fun fact about me is that I LOVE retelling stories. If you haven't yet noticed this is somewhat a retelling of the little mermaid.  I enjoyed reading the main character. Somehow I was easily moved by her. She is a very very likable character because of her innocence and pure intentions. That is one of my weakness, by the way. And I was surprised by a familiar character that made appearance in this novel which got me pretty excited.
Another great aspect that I love about this story is its main twist in the plot which I didn't see it coming. I'm going to give good credits for the author for not being predictable.  Resolution of the story was UNBELIEVABLE! I have to say, my steel heart started rusting because of this. I really don't like spoiling my reviews for my readers but I just have to warn you to prepare your heart from melting. Yes. It'll be an amazingly one of a kind sad sci-fi story.

PLUS, THIS IS FREE ON WATPAD.

What Disappointed Me: NONE!

Its okay. But I prefer her usual The Lunar Chronicles book covers than this.
I like the background though because of its relation to the story. I like that type of connection.
 photo ShabbyBlogsRetroTag6.jpg
Well, I don't have to surprise your with the ratings, huh?!
This is a totally recommended read for every book lovers out there.
CHEERIOS!
