When twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed.

Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.

Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?

With the same wicked humor and delicious charm that have won her millions of devoted fans, Sophie Kinsella, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Shopaholic & Baby, returns with an irresistible new novel and a fresh new heroine who finds herself in a life-changing and utterly hilarious predicament.

Why Read: I love Sophie Kinsella, I was planning to read ALL her works that's why I must read her novels.
What I Liked: Sophie Kinsella does a lot of good chic-lit novels. All of her stand alone books are light, funny and fast reads which I find it very comforting especially when I just read a complicated book and usually I always go for her works after just to keep me grounded and sane at the same time. The main protagonist is quite easy to relate with especially in this novel the situation that she's in to has somehow catches my attention to get me to read more and quick. Simple and straight to point plot no complicated lovey dovey bullshits and relatable.
What Disappointed Me: This disappointments is somehow in general of the authors works.
Okay, one of the flaws for reading too much books from the same author is somehow you'll notice some repetitions in her writing style when it comes to building a plot line. As much as possible I don't like spoiling the stories but it has a cycle that is already predictable. The main characters of her works, I find very similar in personalities and traits that they all mix up in my head and forget who is who in each of the novels.

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella

 photo ShabbyBlogsRetroTag1-1.jpg
Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don’t get visited by ghosts. Or do they?

When the spirit of Lara’s great-aunt Sadie–a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance–mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie’s possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions. Her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, her start-up company is floundering, and she’s just been dumped by the “perfect” man.

Sadie, however, could care less.

Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie’s necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different “twenties” girls learn some surprising truths from each other along the way. Written with all the irrepressible charm and humor that have made Sophie Kinsella’s books beloved by millions, Twenties Girl is also a deeply moving testament to the transcendent bonds of friendship and family.

Why Read: If you must know I'm a Sophie Kinsella fan. I 'am crazy  obsess with her works. I was planning to devour all of her books except for the shopaholic series, just wasn't a fan of those as of now.  So far I only have 2 more stand alone books from her that I haven't read. looking forward to get my hands on them. Haha!
What I like: What I like from this novel or mostly from Sophie's books is its easy breezy feel she gives to her readers. I love her writing style and the way she incorporates English culture and famous landmarks in UK into her novels, I really enjoy that. I even learn British slang words like "telly"  for TV and expressions such as "wankers" and so on. Its fun to know a bit of foreign stuff such as those.
I like the main character. She's fun to read, playful and a relatable protagonist. I love how the author puts the story together without getting to much details or in other words too boring to read. Every page is worth reading. There are a bit of silly moments in the novel that'll make you think that its way beyond or far-fetched but somehow it worked for me. You will appreciate the characters growth in the story and a moral lesson that it'll bring to its readers.
What Disappointed Me:
Well actually there is a bit of annoyingness that I felt with the secondary protagonist even with the main one. They have a childish qualities to them that really wants me to put down the book.

Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She’s made a mistake so huge, it’ll wreck any chance of a partnership.
Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she’s mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they’ve hired a lawyer–and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can’t sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope–and finds love–is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.
But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does…will she want it back?

WHY READ: I just finished a dystopian, suspense and thrilling books and I realized I need a break from all those types of genre. A complex killing novels. And thought of getting a light chick-Lit book. Especially, Its the love month. I looked up something romantic light read. So I ended up with Sophie Kinsella. This was my very first book I read from her. Just tried her out cause I know Sophie is one of the famous YA chick-lit authors now a days.
WHAT I LIKE: I needed something light, some levity to my OVER active brain. This novel did a good job in providing that. Its a bit romantic but it still focuses on the fact that women these days or men rather are soooo into their work that they sometimes forget what it really means to live. I was reminded of that fact because of this book I still enjoy what I have. Give time to myself and live for myself. Basically that is the moral of this novel gives to its readers. Learning to appreciate small yet meaningful things. I adore women with strong, independent characteristics and it was the reason that I got sucked in to this. I was fond of the main character she was funny and most of the characters were entertaining, And ofcourse the whole situation the protagonist was in is a bit funny.
WHAT DISAPPOINTED ME: Like I said light and simple read. PLUS very predictable outcome.
I was way I a head of this novel and yeah. Not that complex to predict what will happen next.
I think that's what you get for reaching light and simple reads, huh?

I didn't know until now that this is the book cover. I got this in my Kindle and I never saw it in stores so at first, got no idea what the cover is but I find it cute. Well to tell you frankly most of Sophie Kinsella's book cover were cute and girly which I dont mind. They really can get a preppy girls attention.

I recommend this novel for young ADULTS. There are still very short and few explicit parts so watch out for that. I did enjoy it somehow but it was a predictable finishing.
hahaha!
